Next-Level Breeding: Reliable Partner

Best French Puppies means preservation and betterment of the French Bulldog. Breeders seek enhancement of bloodlines: health, conformation, genetic diversity. The Company provides a scientifically-backed service. Service connects females with genetically-verified males.

Foundation: Genetically Verified Excellence

Knowledge is the cornerstone of the breeding program. Risks are absent. Each stud is a champion of appearance and health.

Each male undergoes comprehensive DNA testing for a wide panel of health conditions of the breed. The Company provides full color genotyping. This ensures decision-making for achieving goals (colors, classic look). The priority is offspring health.

Nationwide Access Through Reproduction

Geography is not a barrier to genetic progress. The Company specializes in collection and nationwide shipping of refrigerated semen. Method allows breeders access to genetics without travel expenses.

Practice is approved by the American Kennel Club (AKC). AKC Regulations: litters produced via artificial insemination are eligible for registration. This ensures puppies full value of AKC documentation.

According to the AKC:

"Litters produced as a result of artificial insemination... are eligible for AKC registration provided that the applicable requirements for registration are met and the proper documentation is submitted."

A critical requirement is that
“The sire and dam must be AKC DNA certified.”

Our commitment to AKC compliance means we handle all necessary documentation for the sire, providing you with a seamless path to registering your future litters.

A Partnership for Success: Expertise on Both Ends

For guaranteeing high cooperation results, The Best French Puppies partners with a veterinary clinic that specializes in canine reproduction. The team of veterinarians controls every step: from precise collection and professional preparation of semen to its secure, controlled packaging for shipment. Expert involvement provides the best material for the receiving veterinarian’s work.

Successful breeding is a two-way cooperation. The Best French puppies provides quality semen and expert handling. The critical component for success is the recipient’s diligence. To avoid disappointment and guarantee investment, The Best French Puppies advises:

  • Meticulously Track Heat Cycles:Precisely monitor the female’s cycle from the first signs of proestrus.
  • Perform Progesterone Testing:Testing is a necessity. The test removes guesswork, allowing the veterinarian to pinpoint the exact optimal time for insemination with scientific accuracy. The test is the most important tool.

Serious commitment to the process maximizes potential for a successful pregnancy and a healthy litter.

Next Step: Expert Breeding

AKC Breeding Rights and Registration

The AKC does not grant or sell breeding rights. The AKC provides a registry and sets rules for dog registration and offspring registration. Rights to breed and register a litter are controlled by the breeder at the time of initial sale.

Key Concepts:

  • Full / Limited Registration: This is the tool for controlling breeding rights.
  • Full Registration: Dog is eligible for breeding. Offspring are eligible for AKC registration. Breeder provides this for responsible breeding.
  • Limited Registration: Dog is purebred and AKC-registered. Offspring are not eligible for AKC registration. This is a non-breeding agreement. Used for breed protection from genetic issues.

The Breeder's Contract

The Breeder’s Contract is the core document. The Breeder uses the contract with specification of details:

  • Type of Registration:Full or Limited.
  • Conditions for Lifting Limited Registration
  • Co-ownership Agreements
  • Rights of First Refusal, Spay/Neuter Requirements, and other stipulations.

What the AKC Says (Official Policy):

  • The AKC does not get involved in private contracts. They will not mediate disputes between a breeder and a buyer. Their role is to process the registration application based on the type of registration the breeder designated.
  • Limited Registration is permanent and binding for the life of the dog.It cannot be unilaterally changed by the owner. Only the original breeder (the “first owner” on the registration certificate) can apply to change a Limited registration to Full.
  • Litters can only be registered if both the sire (father) and dam (mother) have Full Registration.
AKC Reference:
“Limited Registration means that the dog is registered but no litters produced by that dog are eligible for AKC registration.”

Part 2: Shipping Sperm (Canine Semen) and Artificial Insemination

The AKC permits registration of litters produced via Artificial Insemination (AI). This includes using shipped fresh-chilled or frozen semen. The AKC has specific requirements to ensure the integrity of the registry.Key Requirements for Shipped Semen and AI Litter

Registration: AKC Requirements

Eligibility of Dogs: Sire and dam must possess Full AKC Registration. Semen from a dog with Limited Registration does not produce a registerable litter.

AKC DNA Profiling: Profiling is the core requirement for proving parentage when using AI.

  • Sire (semen donor) MUSTbe AKC DNA Certified before litter birth.
  • Dammust also be AKC DNA Certified.
  • All offspringmust undergo DNA profiling to verify parentage from certified sire and dam.

Mandatory AI Supplement Form:

The form is submitted with the litter registration application. The form requires information, including:

  • Nameand registration number of the sire and dam.
  • Date of insemination.
  • Type of AI(Fresh, Fresh-Chilled, or Frozen).
  • Name, signature, and contact informationof the veterinarian who performed the insemination.

Veterinary Control of Collection & Shipping:

Semen collection and preparation must be performed or directly supervised by a licensed veterinarian. The veterinarian completes their section of the AI form.

Health Certificates:

Semen shipment (interstate or international) must be accompanied by an official Veterinary Health Certificate for the sire, issued by an accredited veterinarian. The certificate certifies the dog is free from contagious diseases.

State and USDA Regulations:

State Regulations: Individual states have own import requirements for canine semen (e.g., Brucellosis testing). Owner responsibility (shipper and receiver) is checking and complying with regulations of state of origin and destination state.

USDA Regulations: International semen shipment is regulated by the USDA. Requirements must comply with import rules of the destination country.

What the AKC Says (Official Policy):

AKC Reference: “Litters produced as a result of artificial insemination… are eligible for AKC registration provided that the applicable requirements for registration are met and the proper documentation is submitted.”

“The sire and dam must be AKC DNA certified and the resulting offspring must be DNA certified to verify parentage.”

“The insemination must be performed by or under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian.”
